In spring 2014, I was a graduate student representative in the engineering education faculty search committee. I have had privilege to see how academic interviews are conducted and more specifically how a candidate is evaluated. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my perspective as to how I should approach my writings and research. I would recommend everyone to seek out the opportunity to serve in such committees.

As an advisor to the social entrepreneurship forum we ( me and three students) visited Turkey in 2005 on behalf of the university in an exchange program with TOG . TOG is a student youth organization which collaborates with community student volunteers all over Turkey in social entrepreneurship activities. I was responsible to help students of BRAC University to kick start such an initiative in Bangladesh.I was also the advisor of the debating club of BRAC University. As an advisor I helped students organize and participate in inter and intra university debates.
As an advisor of student organization I was responsible (by University) for student lead initiatives. This was a challenging task. I had to somehow motivate students to organize events. This involved me spending time to understand what students were interested in and at times providing free food. I also had to make it clear to the university administration that I can not push students to do something because that would be against the "student lead" motto. With new students coming and old students graduating it is a challenging task to keep student organizations active.
